I HAVE BEEN ADOPTED
CLICK HERE TO SEE MY NEW FAMILY Are you looking at ME? Are YOU looking at me? I certainly hope that's the case, because I'm looking for YOU and a loving forever home. I am a large beautiful 5-6 years old pure bred German Shepherd who was picked up as a stray by Saginaw Country Animal Control. I have no clue as to why my previous owners did not search me out. But, their loss may certainly be your gain. I am healthy, strong and impressive in size and bark. But, don't let that fool you. I can be absolute putty in the hands of a GSD knowledgeable person. I bond extremely well with my human(s) and live to be physically near to him/her. I definitely want to please that special person. Although I get along famously with my foster mom's dogs, I think I would do best with a female dog of approximately like size. I have not finalized my opinion about cats yet. I am house trained, and am completely clean in my environs. A tennis ball is still my favorite toy, and I love to chew large pressed natural rawhide and thigh bones. I do not dig or jump my foster mom's fence although I have learned to lift the latch on the gate! I walk extremely well on a leash and always enjoy a 1/2 hour or more walk. I know a few basic commands, and, contrary to what others say, you CAN teach an older dog new tricks. It just takes patience and repetition! He deserves a home that will love him for life? Could that be you? To adopt, CAREFULLY and COMPLETELY fill out an
Online Adoption Application
Due to volume, inquiries about specific animals will not be answered until applications have been filled out. We strive to find the best possible forever home for our animals, so, a positive vet history is a must. In turn, you may be eligible to adopt a wonderful animal who has been neutered/spayed, is completely up-to-date with all vet recommended vaccinations and boosters, who has been heart-worm tested and is on preventative medication, which has been wormed, had its ears cleaned, nails trimmed, and dental work as needed.
A $275 adoption fee is required for dogs. This fee covers veterinarian expenses and boarding fees when a foster home is not immediately available. A legal and binding contract must be signed. Dogs may be seen only AFTER the adoption application is completed and an appointment has been confirmed. All of our dogs are housed in private homes or boarded as necessary. Adoption fees and donations have also helped to support in part expensive unexpected health conditions such as heart-worm, kennel cough, pneumonia, hip dyspepsia, luxuriating patellae, and other individual surgeries including an open heart surgery.
If you have never owned a pet, or it has been many years, we encourage you to visit your local animal shelter or humane society to find that forever pet. If you decide to adopt from one of these organizations, please get your pet to a veterinarian to become completely vaccinated for the sake of the animal's health.
